GP Referral Guidelines for Open Access Endoscopy
Open Access Endoscopy at Leonda Gastroenterology
Dr Linda Yang offers open access endoscopy services for appropriate patients, allowing GPs to refer directly for specific procedures without the need for an initial consultation.
Prior to the procedure, all patients are seen by Dr Linda Yang and her anaesthetist. All patients will receive a follow-up consultation (phone/telehealth or in-person) to discuss endoscopy and histology findings and discuss relevant treatments.
Referrers will receive the endoscopy and histology reports, and a consultation letter.
When to Refer for Consultation First
Some patients require initial consultation with Dr Yang before endoscopy. Dr Linda Yang will triage all referrals and may request a consultation prior to the procedure if:
Patients with BMI over 40
Patients with severe cardiac or respiratory disease
Patients over 80 years
Patients with significant disability or immobility.
